Jury Duty Leave for Employees in Georgia

Georgia law provides that it is unlawful for any employer to discharge, discipline, or otherwise penalize an employee for the reason that the employee is attending a judicial proceeding in response to a summons for jury duty, subpoena or other court order. Threats to take such action are also unlawful.

Notice requirements. Employers may require that employees give reasonable notice of the need for jury duty leave.

Paid time off. According to a 1989 Georgia Attorney General Opinion, an employee is entitled to be paid his or her salary while missing work to serve on jury duty.
